Expired domain name evaluator tool

Expired domains are a great way to jump start a new online business, or even give an extra push to an existing business. How so? Well, Expired domains are interesting for two reasons:-
  • Arguably, all the best domain names have already been thought of (I did say arguably!). So expired domains are a good source for finding great domain names.
  • SOME expired domains have good/great link popularity. Either you can bring the site back from the dead and host content related to the previously expired website, OR do a 301 redirect to one of your websites with related content. Freshness of the previous content is key in order for this to be effective. A website whose content has been offline for more than 3 or 4 months is often beyond resuscitation.
On point 2, we have created a new tool to help you find these expired domains with quality backlinks. I've tried various online tools before to help ascertain which are the best expired domains in terms of link popularity, but honestly none of them do the job I want them to do :-
  • Give me up-to-date info on the backlinks this domain has, and list the UNIQUE domain names linking to this expired domain, and let me know the number of UNIQUE domains these backlinks come from.
Try for yourself:-

Expired Domain Names Evaluator Tool

You can search up to 20 domains at a time and it will report back the link popularity and exact links (from UNIQUE domain names) that are linking to this expired domain. The tool searches the first 100 links in Yahoo! Site Explorer, and determines how many unique URLs are within the first 100 YSE listings (normally the most important backlinks are listed in the top 100 YSE listings anyway). Clicking on the domain name takes you to the "waybackmachine" history of the domain so you can see if it's actually had a website hosted on it or not recently. Finally you can click "Link" to take you to the actual YSE results to browse further details.

In terms of actually locating expiring/expired domains, you can find plenty of expiring/expired domain names at dotcenter.com.
