Identifying good link partners

Following up from our previous entry about reciprocal linking, here's a quick check-list to appraise potential website link partners (i.e. websites to swap links with):-

Prospective link partner has.....
  • a website that is relevant to what you sell / do

  • a prominent link from their home page to their links directory

  • a well organized categorised links directory with no more than 20 links per page

  • a search engine friendly links directory

  • a website that looks reputable and is genuine
It's better to link to fewer sites that you can say 'yes' to the above points than try the scattergun approach and find yourself linking to hundreds of low quality sites (think of the time you're wasting setting those link exchanges up).
