The Interview

If a website owner had no money and just 5 hours per week to spend on their website, how would you advise them to spend those 5 hours per week to maximise the effectiveness and visibility of their website?

1 hour finding quality back links, 1 hour writing a short article, 1 hour keyword research, and 2 hours in the job centre looking for a job :)

How much time do you spend on your website in an average week?

15 hours

How do you get inspired to find new things to write about on your site?

Our site is more product based than articles, so I get inspired finding new massage products from around the world that help energise people.

What do you enjoy most about running your online business?

1) Testing new massage products out before we decide to sell them.
2) Playing the Google game and seeing our website on the first page of search results.

Does the website generate a lot of phone calls?

Quite a few - mainly for our corporate office massage service that we offer and our store opening times.

How often do you update your website?

As much as possible. We believe a stagnant website returns stagnant results.

How much do you know about SEO?

I know it stands for search engine optimization (Magnus Magnusson : "correct").

What improvements would you like made to your site?

I would like to have a fresh new design

What annoys you when you visit other sites?

I really hate to register to buy something.

What has surprised you most about the behaviour of your website visitors?

I was surprised by our visitors finding time to review our products and service

What single piece of advice would you give to any other website thinking of selling online?

Don’t waste your time and money setting up a business selling green oranges if there is only 5 people a month searching for them (do your research to see if there is a market for it.)

Thanks Jason!
